Soundboard

How to play this game

Ever had fun just making funny sounds? This activity is just that. It has been designed to allow children to surprise themselves and delight in exploring. Be warned! There will most likely be an outbreak of giggling.

The main screen of this activity is filled with forty-eight buttons of varying size, shape and colour. Encourage children to click on each one. When this activity is closed and re-opened, the sounds for all but one of the buttons will have been randomly changed.

To exit, click on the small hand in the lower right corner of the screen.

Teaching tips

This is a fantastic free play activity, but is even better when it is played with another person. Children love to share funny experiences, which seem even funnier when there are two or more laughing at the same things. It is very useful for encouraging communication and cooperation between children.

This activity is great to play in a group situation. Click on a button ask what the sound might be. Encourage children to use their imaginations to describe where they might hear that sound. Can they repeat the sound?

Soundboard is excellent for children who are being introduced to the computer mouse, as it needs only single click mouse control and is easily navigated. As they are having fun with the many colourful buttons, children will build confidence and a willingness to explore the screen.
