Puzzle Pictures

How to play this game

This activity has some lovely pictures, but there are bits missing. The object of the game is for children to place the missing images back into the larger picture.

If an image is dropped, it will stay where it is until it is put in the correct place. When it is placed correctly it is locked into position and cannot be moved. When all the items have been placed, a fanfare will sound and the next page will appear.

New pages can be chosen at any time by clicking on the green forwards and backwards arrows at the bottom of the screen. When a page is turned the objects shown are randomly selected; making the pages different every time.

To exit, click on the small hand in the lower right corner of the screen.

Teaching tips

This activity contains eleven different picture sets, with eighty-two images to place in total. Some of the picture sets are quite tricky. Some images to be placed are complete pictures such as different types of transport. Others are parts of a larger image. Some images are similar to others.

Sometimes it is helpful to pick up an image and move it over the shaded areas to see where it best fits. It is not always obvious at the start.

Children will hear a little noise when they find the correct match and the item will then be locked into place.

Encourage children to name the objects as they are placing them.

The click and drag mouse control can be difficult for some children, especially if they need to move something a longer distance. Encourage them to keep trying if they drop the item mid move.
