Let's Count

How to play this game

This is a delightful book for preschoolers. It takes children through the numbers one to ten with a favourite, fun theme - a birthday party!

Children do not need to be able to read, as the sentences are read to them. They can have fun clicking on the speaker icons to have each one reread and the sounds replayed.

Pages can be turned forwards and backwards by clicking on the turned corner at the bottom of the pages. Children can also use click and drag in the direction of the arrow. This makes the reader feel like they are turning the page of a real book.

To exit, click on the small hand in the upper right corner of the screen.

Teaching tips

This is a simple book designed to reinforce numbers one to ten and encourage counting. As children turn the pages and listen to the narrative, encourage them to count the things on the page. "Is there really that many presents on the page? Let's count!"

Show them how to click on the speaker icons to have the sentences reread or play the associated sounds.

After closing the book, ask children if they remember the things on the pages. Can they remember how many there were? Eg. "How many candles were on the cake?" "Did anyone see the puppy dog? What was it doing?" "Who was carrying the cake in the final page?"
